Wine Notes

2016 was a near perfect growing season that began with mild weather and an early bud break. Mild summer days and moderate temperatures stretched the ripening season a little longer than expected. The extra time on the vine allowed the grapes to achieve the ideal ripeness.

Winemaker Tim Milos co-fermented 100% estate grown Cabernet Sauvignon and Sangiovese grapes using long macerations in small open top fermenters, hand punch downs, and minimal intervention. The result is a wine with a complex flavor profile. Rich black fruit flavors of plum, blackberry, currant and hints of spice from the Cabernet Sauvignon. Subtle hints of tart cherry and strawberry from the Sangiovese. The wine’s velvety tannins and balanced acidity lead to an elegant finish.

This wine was produced from Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown on our family owned estate vineyard, which looks out onto the Napa Valley from the eastern slopes of the Oakville appellation. The wine is crafted in a minimalist style. In keeping with the minimalist approach, the wine is bottled un-filtered and un-fined, allowing the plush, ripe tannins, and delicious fruit, distinctive to this particular hillside location, to shine through. Each vintage is unique. This wine is a true expression of our land, and a labor of love.
